Rotator Cuff Repair in Weightlifter

Bill Barton is a competitive veteran weightlifter and Chairman of the European Masters Weightlifing Association.  He underwent an Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair in 2004.

"Last Sunday (3 months after repair) I trained on the two lifts at a friend’s club where I was able to train on a women’s 15 kg bar instead of using a 20 kg bar.  My main aim was to check if a 3 month lay off had affected my speed and timing; it hadn’t.  the weights I used were light and comparatively easy and I snatched 30 kg (40%) and clean and jerked 47.5 kg (50%) without any problems. The left shoulder is now very stable and “fixes” the weight overhead better than the right."
